Hollywood and Boxing (Continued)

When The American Film Institute conducted an industry poll to determine the greatest 100 films of all time, 6 films that had to do with an athlete or a particular sport were named... and 5 of them included boxing: Raging Bull, Rocky, City Lights, Pulp Fiction, and On the Waterfront. In fact, there have been more Hollywood films centered on boxing then any other sport.

Many boxing legends also appeared in movies, including Jack Dempsey, Joe Louis, Gene Tunney, Jack Johnson, Benny Leonard, James J. Corbett, Jersey Joe Walcott, Primo Carnera, Max Baer, Muhammad Ali, and Ray Robinson.

The incredible Boxing Hall of Champions memorabilia collection includes over 5,000 Hollywood “boxing” movie posters, lobby cards, and photos -- the world’s largest collection. The mesmerizing collection dates back to Gentleman Jim Corbett on the stage at the turn of the century (1900) in “A Naval Cadet” and runs right up to the 2005 release of “The Cinderella Man” starring Russell Crowe.

The various items range in size from 8” x 10” photos to mammoth 10’ by 15’ billboard size posters. In addition to the United States' releases, the collection contains many posters from Italy, England, Germany, Italy and other countries. The Latin community is well represented also with the world’s largest collection of Mexican boxing theme movie lobby cards and posters.

The Boxing Hall of Champions will feature this collection along with video displays of scenes from the all-time favorites.
